Tilley lightweight LT5B Hats. Made with 93% nylon, 7% spandex with durable weather and stain repellant finish. It is tightly woven for high abrasion resistance, better shape retention, high breathability and superior comfort. A moisture wicking sweatband made with TRANSPOR® DRY LAYER offers superior moisture control technology.
The wind cord made of nylon with reflective tape that illuminate, in the dark. Matt black grommets and eyelets, double plated to ensure it will not chip-off.
We have up-dated the look but have kept what makes a Tilley Hat a Tilley Hat: It floats, ties on in the wind, repels rain, won't shrink and is guaranteed for life not to wear out, insured against loss, comes with a 4-page owner's manual and brag tags. The Tilley Breathable Nylon Hats have been tested and certified as having a UPF 50+, the maximum UV protection rating given.
The LT5B Breathable Nylon Hat is styled with the medium, semi-sloping brim size of the Tilley LTM5 and T5 Cotton duck models.

APPEARANCE AND COMFORT:
To protect you from the sun and rain, Tilleys fit lower than other hats. This also tends to give one a rather dashing appearance!
For your comfort, they're held on by gravity, not painful pressure on your forehead. On a hot muggy day, you'll especially appreciate this!
Even though they fit gently, Tilleys won't fly off because when there's a breeze, you use one or both parts of the tuckaway Wind Cord (see TIES ON below).
THE GUARANTEE:
Your Hat is guaranteed for life (yours, mine or its) not to wear out or fall apart. We're delighted to think that yours may be passed on to the next generation!
INSURED AGAINST LOSS:
With your Hat, you'll be provided with `The Straight-Shooter`s Statement of Loss of a Tilley Hat` insurance policy. The insurance is for two years, all perils, 50% deductible, and is not issued by Lloyds.
FLOATS:
A layer of closed-cell foam in the crown, and sometimes in the brim, provides the Tilley's positive buoyancy. This is a boon to boaters and fishermen/women/people. Good grief!
People have told us that this foam layer has helped save their lives. Double your money back if it doesn't save yours. Apply personally....
TIES ON:
The Tilley comes with a tuckaway, adjustable, fore 'n' aft Wind Cord. When it's calm, the Wind Cord stays hidden in the crown. When there's a breeze, place the part with the sliding knots behind your head. When it's windy or you're sailing, use the chin part too.

REPELS RAIN:
Not perfectly but usually quite adequately. Happily, the brims of the cotton-duck Tilleys actually become stiffer when they get wet, not floppier, helping to protect your neck, face and glasses.
The Lighterweight Nylamtium® Tilleys are excellent at repelling rain.
WON'T SHRINK:
They, in 1980: "Alex, you can't make a cotton hat that won't shrink!" Me: "But what if we boiled the material first? Mercilessly preshrunk it?"
They: "Well, I guess that would work." It did and does.
SECRET POCKET:
Inside the crown is a good-sized pocket sealed with Velcro®. In it, carry your I.D., hotel key, $10 bill (in your case, a 20), plus a quarter for an emergency phone call.
ANTI-SWEAT BAND:
New sweatband fabric, TRANSPOR® DRY LAYER offers superior moisture control technology. Perspiration slides through the inner layer to the outer wicking layer of the fabric where it spreads and evaporates. It will keep you cool and dry in the heat.
CERTIFIED SUN PROTECTION:
The fabric and style of all Tilley Hats have been certified to block 98 percent of harmful UVA/UVB radiation and deliver an ultraviolet factor (UPF) of 50+, the maximum rating given.
You still need SPF 15 sunscreen and sunglasses with UV filters! Children especially need the UV filters in their sunglasses as non-filtering glasses will increase the size of their pupils, allowing even more of the damaging UV rays to enter. This often causes cataracts and retinal problems later in life and has happened in my (Alex Tilley's) own family.

UMPTEEN SIZES:
Like footwear, your Tilley Hat must be sized properly. To find your hat size, use a tape measure and draw it right around your head, just above the eyebrows. If you give us the measurement (inches or centimetres) on the Sizing Guide on the website, well give you the right size. Or refer to our Hat Sizing Chart for an easy reference to your Tilley Hat size.
HOW TO MEASURE YOUR HEAD:
As mentioned above, a Tilley Hat fits lower and more comfortably than other hats. The lower it sits, the larger at that point is one's head circumference. To find your Tilley size, simply measure around your head, just above the eyebrows. Tell us this measurement in inches or centimeters. We'll take it from there.

If you already know your regular hat size, please ask for one size larger when you order your Tilley. For instance, if you're sure you're a 7 1/4, order a 7 3/8.
