The Spider consists of a tough plastic plate that remains stable in cold conditions. The plastic plate has 10 tough metal spikes attached to it that give the traction you need in snow and ice. The Spider attaches to any boot or shoe of any size, ladies or gents, under the arch of the foot and is securely fastened with tough nylon webbing and a buckle.
The Grivel Spider is best suited to snow and deeper ice off road as the spikes are about 6-7 mm long and can feel ungainly on pavements with a thin ice covering. They are very light and come with a nylon carry bag. They are ideally suited to tricky areas in the hills where a full crampon is over kill.
