The Jetboil Flash uses the same cup as the classic but that is were the similarity ends. The Flash has a new burner that is more rugged thanks to its perforated metal top instead of the gauze, it also houses the piezo igniter within the burner , thus, helping to prevent damage to the ceramic cover. The gas control knob which is plastic and fidly in the original is now a nice long piece of heavy gauge wire that tucks away neatly when not in use. The cup although the same has a new neoprene sleave on the Flash, this sleeve has a large clear Jetboil logo on it which turns more and more orange as the liquid inside heats up, this serves two purposes, to tell the user its hot and also it is a visual indicator that tells you it is about to boil so you don't have to watch the water inside. To address stability issues Jetboil have thrown in a stabaliser for the gas canister.

All in all a great upgrade to the original Jetboil which I have owned since the start and have yet to find a system that can beat it . Whilst some stoves are more efficient or lighter, burn hotter or have more control nothing beats the Jetboil, in my opinion, as an all round package, for ease of use its top class and the quality speaks for itself.

Q. Where can I buy Jetboil branded gas?

A. In the UK Jetboil branded gas is NOT available, however, any standard screw on thread gas cartridge will fit. These gas cartridges are available in three sizes all of which will fit on the Jetboil. The smallest type which is normally described as 100 or 125g fits inside the cup. These gas cylinders are now piercing so you can screw them on and off as many times as you wish. The best advice is to use the smallest, 100g, for backpacking and the largest for base camp as it is much more cost effective.

Q. Can I buy the gas from you?

A. We always stock all three sizes of gas in the shop but CANNOT send through the post as they do not allow this. Any good outdoor or camping shop will stock the type of gas you need and is available from several different brands including, Go Systems, MSR, Primus, Coleman but NOT Camping Gaz.
