Pickering Walking Festival 2012

The 3rd Annual Pickering Walking Festival will take place on Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd April 2012. Trailblazer Outdoors very own Andy Armstrong will be leading a walk on Sunday which will give people the chance to see the tracks, trails and sign left behind by the animals that live in the Cropton Forest area.

Where is the winter weather? Will we see any snow and ice in early 2012?

If like me you actually enjoy some proper winter weather you are probably wondering if it is ever going to happen this year. I like winter weather for two reasons; it is a unique opportunity to take some great photographs that cannot be taken at any other time, walking in winter particularly in the high hills and mountains in the nearest thing I know to a religious experience with the crunch of ice and snow under your boots and stunning landscapes created by the same snow and ice. So the questions remains will I get a chance this winter to take the mountains when blanketed in snow and ice?

Weve been searching around for another high quality boot brand and the one that impressed us the most is Hanwag, so we have taken the plunge and placed an opening order for the Alaska GTX and the Tatra GTX for November.

Our shop is in the pretty town of Pickering a traditional market town on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors a largely undiscovered gem of moorland, coast and forest which is perfect for walking, backpacking and cycling. We opened our shop in 1994 and called it Ryedale Rambler, 9 years later we moved to a bigger premises and in 2009 we changed the name of the shop to Trailblazer Outdoors.

We stock outdoor clothing, footwear and equipment from many well known brands and some not so well known, most of which has been tested by us on the moors and many other places in this country and abroad.
