Altra Zero Drop Lone Peak 4.0 Mens Trail Hill Ultra Running Shoe

Product Details

Both Neil and Andy got a pair to try before they decided to stock Altra. Both are low level cross country, non-competitive runners with a history of back problems. They both wanted to try zero drop, forefoot strike running, as they had heard so many good things about it, especially in regard to protecting the lower back. Both where really impressed by the technique and the shoes!

Andy said, “I have had trouble with cardio for years, suffering with a bad back in both biking and running. However, since I have trained in my Altra’s for forefoot strike I have surprisingly had no issues. My lower back is now stronger, as running works the muscles. At the end of a run, its my legs that ache, not my back. Its been a revolution in my fitness. Accoring to my Garmin fitness watch I am getting better cardio results all the time.

The shoes are great to. At first, the Altra’s felt roomy at the front, although I have a fairly wide foot. However, they worked very well on the trail, allowing my foot to spread. Super comfy all round really. The lacing system is great, really holding your foot into the footbed but without crushing your foot. The stone guard seems to work to, without removing feel for the terrain. Well made to and so far, have proved durable, although I am a low mileage runner to be fair”.

So a good fell running or trail shoe for the casual or serious runner. Would make a great summer walking shoe to, for round town or on easy trails. Altra have put together a great shoe with a great build quality.

What Altra says-

The Lone Peak 4 is a fresh take on Altra's original trail shoe with several significant updates.

The new upper will include the same integrated tongue as the previous version but now with static webbing for better cinching ability, a flexible strap overlay for a roomier forefoot fit and a sandpaper textured toe cap. In addition, breathability is improved by way of draining mesh in the heel and forefoot and the decoupled nature of the TrailClaw™, as well as multi-directional, carved lugs for improves traction and reduced weight. To top off this already awesome shoe the StoneGuard™ is completely updated to resemble the skeletal structure of a foot for better performance and dynamic flexibility.
